Association between copy number variations in the OCA2-HERC2 locus and human eye colour

چکیده
Human eye colour variation is strongly associated with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the OCA2-HERC2 locus, especially rs12913832 that found an enhancer element of OCA2. In a previous study we 43 out 166 individuals Norwegian population brown genotype HERC2 rs12913832:AA or AG, did not have expected colour. To investigate if duplications deletions locus could explain blue these individuals, analysed massively parallel sequencing (MPS) data for copy number variations (CNVs) region. The ?500 kb long was sequenced 94 rs12913832:AG and AA genotypes. Of these, were observed to 51 CNVs using R R-package panelcn.MOPS - CNV detection tool targeted NGS panel data. 32 regions significantly (Benjamini-Hochberg adjusted p-value ? 0.05). 14 raw p-values (p functional effects on OCA2 expression are yet be investigated. However, this suggests might why some unexpectedly eyes.

Human eye colour and HERC2, OCA2 and MATP.
Prediction of human eye colour by forensic genetic methods is of great value in certain crime investigations. Strong associations between blue/brown eye colour and the SNP loci rs1129038 and rs12913832 in the HERC2 gene were recently described. Weaker associations between eye colour and other genetic markers also exist. In 395 randomly selected Danes, we investigated the predictive values of va...
متن کاملGender is a major factor explaining discrepancies in eye colour prediction based on HERC2/OCA2 genotype and the IrisPlex model.
In recent years, several studies have greatly increased our understanding of the genetic basis underlying human eye colour variation. A large percentage of the eye colour diversity present in humans can already be genetically explained, so much so that different DNA-based eye colour prediction models, such as IrisPlex, have been recently developed for forensic purposes. Though these models are ...
متن کاملHuman subtelomeric copy number variations.
Copy number variation is a defining characteristic of human subtelomeres. Human subtelomeric segmental duplication regions ('Subtelomeric Repeats') comprise about 25% of the most distal 500 kb and 80% of the most distal 100 kb in human DNA. Huge allelic disparities seen in subtelomeric DNA sequence content and organization are postulated to have an impact on the dosage of transcripts embedded w...

AIM To explore whether copy number variations (CNVs) of toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) are associated with susceptibility to chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. METHODS This study included 623 patients (495 males and 128 females) with chronic hepatitis B virus infection (CHB) and 300 patients (135 females and 165 males) with acute hepatitis B virus infection (AHB) as controls. All CHB pat...
متن کاملLinkage and association analysis of spectrophotometrically quantified hair color in Australian adolescents: the effect of OCA2 and HERC2.
Genetic studies of pigmentation have benefited from spectrophotometric measures of light-dark hair color. Here we use one of those measures, absorbance at 650 nm, to look for chromosomal regions that harbor genes affecting hair pigmentation. At 7p15.1, marker D7S1808 was suggestive of linkage to light-dark hair color (LOD approximately 2.99). Marker D1S235 at 1q42.3 was suggestive of linkage to...
